More Bow Ties

This time, I was asked if I could make a bow tie for a Yorkie Terrier that will be in a wedding.

Hmmm. I hope I get a picture of this!

After given a tie to use for the collar, here's what I came up with.

My Yorkie was the perfect sized model!

Have an idea for dressing up your pup? I can help you!
In light of the tragic, senseless hunting of majestic animals, let's remember that they have feelings too.

Alterations

How many times did you look at a piece if clothing and thought, "I love this but wish it were different."

Probably more times than not.

We all have a closet full of clothes that sorta fit. Or are ok. Wouldn't you rather have them be what you want? Or have them fit better?

The answer to this problem is encapsulated in one word - alterations.

Take a dress and make it a robe. Like this dress I transformed for someone.

The front of the dress was cut open and I stitched piping down each side and then added a pretty, silver clasp on it to keep it closed. A zipper or other closures could be used on this as well. She wanted the one spot to close so that's what she got!

Why wear baggy or misshapen clothes when they can be fixed? Let me know if I can help you with alterations! Feel great in what you wear!

My Day at the Fair

After waiting three long days, the judging results were seen. There were 22 quilts this year.

Here are my entries-

Moonlight and Roses, blue Bargello quilt

Got a red ribbon

Building Blocks

Got a red ribbon

And last but certainly not least...

Dancing Butterfly

Got a blue ribbon

And got the Best In Show Visual Impact award!

I am humbled. It's amazing to see success. Four years ago, I didn't even know how to FMQ. But lots of studying and lots of practice and lots of start overs, this is where I'm at.

Thanks to my mom for encouraging me to "try quilting", to my awesome husband for his support through my good and not so good moments, and to the amazing teachers' resources where I've learned so much about the art of quilting.

A Year Of 221-ing

This is my rescued 1936 221. I found her in a closed up, dirty, smoky sewing cabinet at a flea market.

If it weren't for her foot pedal sitting on the ground, I wouldn't have known she was trapped in there waiting to be free. I lifted her out of the cabinet and saw her scratches and grime but I also saw a diamond. She came home with me, cabinet free, that sunny, summer day in 2014. I've have given her lots of love (and elbow grease) and she sews like a dream.

Even with my best cleaning and waxing efforts, this is as good as she gets but I don't care. She's worth it!
