Countdown to the Craft Show - 6 Days

It's Saturday night and I have to admit that I am really happy with the things I am bringing to the craft show. If I don't make another piece, the display is looking great as it is!

But there's always something else to make!

Here's an idea of something to make from strips of material in my small-pieces stash box. Turn them into pretty flowers and mount them on hair clips!

I made six of them. Which one do you like?

Countdown to the Craft Fair - 1 Week

My garage has been turned into a craft show test run space! Now is the time to get my tables figured out and set up with all the fun things that are going to the show at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds!

Here's a couple of the latest additions to what I have to offer.

Remember when I was asking where I could get a mannequin head? Here's why!

Countdown to the Craft Show - 8 days

A couple of people asked if I would make a pouch to hold eyeglasses or sunglasses. So here they are. These will be on my table for $6 each. All are made from this pretty blue fabric. Other colors can be made by request. Hope to see you at the Craft Show!

Countdown to the Craft Show - 9 days

These are too cute! So practical and environmentally friendly - snack pouches.

Say goodbye to plastic! Put your kid's goodies in one and Velcro it closed. Washer and dryer friendly.

I have a bunch of colors and sizes all ready to go at $6 each. Get one at the craft show on May 4 & 5 or leave me a comment for your order.

Countdown to Craft Show - 11 days

I have a pretty good feeling about what I have to bring to the craft show on May 4 & 5 but I keep thinking of more cool stuff to make!

When you're running out the door, tissues are handy during allergy season. So, pocket tissue covers are a must!

I have 15 of them and they are all a little bit different. Hope you can make it to the show at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds!

Countdown to the Craft Fair - 14 days

I am very excited about the progress in the items I'm taking to the craft show at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds on May 4th & 5th!

Everyone is on the go, even seniors!  Here is a new item that is going to be on my table - a walker tote.

The tabs on top hook over the front bar of the walker.

The pocket on the side is to hold smaller things like glasses or tissues or a pen.

A friend suggested them to bring to the craft fair. I am currently working on making a collection of these, which will be available for $18. If you want one, let me know!

Countdown to the Craft Fair - 18 days

Cup cuffs! Wrap your mug or take-out cup with a stylish cuff.

The one on the left is for tapered cups, like the ones you get from the coffee shops. The one on the right is for straight mugs, like what you use at home. Love these!

Countdown to the Craft Fair

May 4 & 5 will be here before you know it and I will be ready for the show!

I was thinking about the On-The-Go Wallets that I have going to the Craft Fair, which brought on this idea. Just like us, our kids are on the go too! Here is a set of a blanket with a matching burp cloth to keep your little one warm and clean while you are out. The blankets are all backed with flannel and the burp cloths are embellished diapers, nice and absorbent yet stylish. These blanket sets will be priced at $32 at the show.

Which is your favorite?

Dresses 4 Missions Event

My biggest fan (my mom) has her own agenda in the sewing world! She absolutely loves making dresses to give to missionaries in impoverished countries that are handed out to the local girls. These dresses are simple but so pretty, and she is teaching others how to make them.

FMQ Practice - Morphing

Learning, and practicing, Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) has been one of the most satisfying crafts I have undertaken. We are not limited to straight line sewing! Seeing the thread go onto the fabric in the way you want it to go is a wonderful creative outlet!

You also get to know your sewing machine a whole lot better. Join in on my Spring Cleaning Contest that I have going on until the end of the month. Show me your goo!

For FMQ ideas and inspiration, I keep tabs at the Free Motion Quilting Project and check out the videos regularly. It's fun to share and see the progress with other quilters.

Here are some things I have experimented with on my FMQ practice panel. I thought it would be fun to morph from one design to another. I didn't stress over it or plan it out first, just picked different designs as I went along.

Here's a trapped flower design.

Spring Cleaning Contest

Give me your knotted, your dull, your linty machines needing to be cleaned...

That's right! It's clean-your-machine contest! Get out the camera, defuzz your bobbin housing, take pictures, and share! I want to see the goo that came our of YOUR machine.

The person to have the biggest dust bunny removed from their machine will get a prize! (don't fudge your photos!) The contest will be open until April 14th. Good luck!

I'll go first!

On the go!

Recently, I added some remnants to my stash and had so many possibilities of things that could be made with it! Seeing all of the fabric into a big pile just puts a smile on my face.

There is a craft fair coming up at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds on May 4th and 5th. I adore this fair. I grew up going to and competing at this fair. I had received many ribbons from this fair. How could I stay away? That's right! ThistleFire will be there! OK, time to make the list of what to bring. Let's see, a bunch of my Car Seat Cozies, of course... a couple of quilts... some scarves... scented pot holders would be nice...

Awesome! I had to get out my patterns!

A Room On The Wild Side

One of the projects I've been asked to work on is making custom pieces for a baby's room. You may remember my last custom crib bumper project, but that is for another baby! The set I'm working on is safari themed! Check this out-

Here are some of the background fabrics I have to work with. Zebra! Giraffe! Lion!
And yes, that dark brown is lucious "minky" material!

Custom Crib Bumper

I was asked to make a sweet ruffled crib bumper for someone who is good friends with my niece (small world). Neither of us realized it until we got chatting about who we knew in common. So funny!

Anyways, she is an artistic type and knew exactly what she wanted the bumper to look like. That made my job easy! She even gave me all the fabric and the round bumper padding. All I had to do was give her the materials list, make the pattern, and sew it together.

I had no pattern to follow. Basically, I made a tube with the light fabric and added the ruffle along the top seam. There was a panel that was placed on one side of the bumper and some ribbon ties were attached on the ends. Here's the progression of the job!

The fabric is stunning!
