Mini Sleeves

This has nothing to do with clothing. We trekked down to the Apple store today to look at covers for our iPad Minis.

You see, the basic cover, like what we have, protects the face but not the back. So when you put it down, you look for the least abrasive place to lay it. Hmmm. Maybe we should get the cover for the back.

After looking at the "back" piece's price, we decided to pass. What to do, what to do.... I iknow! I have the tools to make a sleeve! Out came the stash, the serger, and the cutting tools and I got to work.

Here's the one I did for the hubs. He likes dark colors. My dark fabric wasn't wide enough, so the light grey top was the solution for that problem. I think it works!

Heavenly Ruffles

The latest project I am working on is for a baby girl's room. Remember the luscious crib bumper I made with the purple and white design?

RITNY Queen

A couple months ago, I was asked to make a "Ringing In The New Year" quilt. Someone liked my pattern. Woo hoo!

Here are some strips of the colors that will make the top.

Tonight, I sewed all the dark and light strips together. They'll be cut and sewn into the 4-patch blocks.

Now that it's started, I can't wait to see it all finished!

Post Safari Syndrome

It's over. The safari projects are done. They will be going to their new home this week. I have to say goodbye. I will miss seeing you in my sewing room. Farewell!

Pretty dramatic, aren't I?

Saratoga Battlefield

It was our 17th anniversary and we decided to spend it at Saratoga Battlefield. This is the location that helped change the course of the Revolutionary War. This battle kept "the Redcoats" from overtaking the area by means of the Hudson River and changing the country from what the colonial people wanted it to be, a place of freedom.

We aren't history buffs but we love this preserved place. It's not overrun with amusements or vendors or distractions. The only noises you hear are chirping birds, buzzing bees, and an occasional echo of a car on the road down by the river. That's the way we like it.

Have you been there? Check out these pictures.

This is a ridge overlooking a valley that runs by the Hudson. It was an important view for spotting intruders and stopping their advancement.

Wild Things Abounding

Of the four safari pattern pieces that need to be done, two are complete and the other two are more than half done.

The crib quilt is ready to go.

An Amazing Morning

I was waiting for this day to come. It was on her calendar. She read my question about it on quilt cam and she said it was true. The quilting rock starlet was in Moreau today and I went to see her.

Do you recognize this person?

Sewing Gone Wild!

After a month gone from working almost exclusively on all the pieces for the craft show, my sewing room, ThistleFire, is back in its normal action again. And it's going wild in there!

Someone has commissioned me to make custom baby room items with an African animal theme. The baby is coming in mid-June, so back at it! The safari print and minky fabrics are on the machine, sandwiched together to make a luscious crib quilt!

This is going to look fantastic when it's done!

It's Show Time!!!

It's an amazing weekend! The weather has just turned around and it's sunny, sunny, sunny and perfectly warm. Spring has definitely sprung!

So have the things-to-do! I am set up at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds Craft Show and Small Business Expo this weekend.

Here's what I got going on in the 4H building.

I had a second table that was put in that big, open gap that had baby blankets and photo boards on it. I intended to have people walk into my space but that wasn't happening so the table went out to where the people were! That works better.

Saturday went well and Sunday will be the final day for this show. Looking forward to it! Whatever doesn't sell will go in my Etsy shop, ThistleFire. Check out my things there or on this blog in the ThistleFire tab and let me know if you want anything!
