Grand Illusion - The Reveal

This is it! The day we've been waiting for. Taking all the Grand Illusion mystery clues and putting them together! I'm linked up to Quiltville with loads of other talented quilters who have participated in this mystery! Thanks for looking in at my progress posts!

So we laid out the blocks in this manner.

Since I made a half sized quilt, I had twelve blocks.

They were in need of trimming so they were all 12 1/2" squares.

The green sashings also required trimming.
I think next time I would trim them as I make them instead of at the end when they're ready to be sewn together.

I had quite a pile of fabric when they were all done!

The full layout is delightful! And yes, I was one green sash short but I had the strips half together and made them in the shake of a lamb's tail!

I discovered that the blocks that were made for the outer part was short and I don't have any of the blue left so I'll have to figure out what to do about that. I'll put on my border and decide from there.

I know many people took part in this mystery. We had a wonderful time sharing our work and looking at each others' progress! If you are shy about jumping into a mystery quilt of this level, I am offering a mystery project, Dazzle Burst, right now on my blog! You can find everything you need to know during the month of January with all the links in the Mystery Project tab on the top of the page. So, if you are a "comfortable beginner" or better quilter, I hope you'll consider making one with me! Happy 2015!

It looks great! I got too excited at the end to trim my blocks perfectly, but really should have!

Good point about checking and trimming as we go. Every time I make a quilt I must discipline myself to do that. Happy finishing.

Gorgeous, love how the sashing makes that block pop.
